Moving Americans Privacy Protection Act Passes Congress
Movers scored a long-wanted victory when the Senate unanimously passed the Moving Americans Privacy Protection Act (MAPPA). Passing this legislation, which will protect the identities of service members and other Americans who are coming home after living abroad, has been a priority of the ATA and moving industry for more than a decade.
New Jersey Lawmakers Raise Minimum Insurance
The New Jersey Legislature has passed a law requiring heavy trucks to carry a minimum $1.5 million in liability insurance — double the current federal minimum insurance requirement of $750,000. Commercial motor vehicles weighing more than 26,000 pounds will be required to maintain motor vehicle liability insurance coverage of at least $1.5 million to insure against loss resulting from liability imposed by law for bodily injury, death and property damage.

Staff Spotlight: Sandy Quiett
Sandy Quiett, claims manager, is celebrating 24 years with MOVER’S CHOICE this year!
Claims of all shapes and sizes have crossed her desk over the last two decades, and she’s seeing an upward trend in vehicle thefts. Sandy recommends taking a proactive approach by outfitting units with GPS tracking devices that provide real-time feedback such as location, direction of travel, etc.
As claims manager, she loves working with Brokers and Insureds, and cites those long-standing connections as one of the most rewarding aspects of her role.
Outside of work, she enjoys crafting, tending to her flower garden, and spending time with her family. Sandy and her husband have four, beautiful daughters and they just became grandparents!
If Sandy had one superpower, she would like to go back in time to relive cherished moments with her loved ones.
